Job summary

Procom is seeking a Python Engineer for a contract-to-hire role in Mississauga, Ontario. The position is hybrid (3 days onsite). You will design, develop, and support Python-based applications, APIs, and AI-enabled components, aligning with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities include building microservices, CI/CD automation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure software solutions in a financial services context.

Python Engineer - Job Description:

The Python Engineer will build and support modern software solutions leveraging Python, microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and emerging AI capabilities. Python Engineer - Mandatory Skills:

• 3+ years of experience developing applications using Python.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices development.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms.
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python frameworks.
• Knowledge of SQL and database technologies.
• Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Experience working in Linux environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Exposure to agentic AI frameworks, MCP, LLMs, and GenAI solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience).

Python Engineer - Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with Kafka, MQ, or event-streaming platforms.
• Experience with cloud platforms and container technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Financial services / banking / risk management domain experience.
• Understanding of distributed systems, observability, and platform monitoring.
• Advanced degree in a STEM-related field.

Python Engineer - Assignment Length:

This is a contract-to-hire assignment (5 months contract to hire).
