Job description

You will experience the entire business life cycle of a private company, from inception to growth, maturity, and transition. Our team designs and implements personalized service plans tailored to privately owned entities, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals, focusing on issues such as wealth management, compliance, cash flow management, equity expansion, divestiture, and exit strategies. PwC Private helps entrepreneurs, private business owners, and family enterprises manage ownership and growth at every stage, adapting to the global landscape. Our High Net Worth (HNW) practice supports high net worth individuals and prominent Canadian families with tax and business advisory services. This cross-border role focuses on assisting HNW families with cross-border tax issues, including estate planning for families with US citizen members and Canadians with US assets.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of

As a PwC Private Cross Border Tax Manager, you will work with a team of problem solvers to address business issues, deliver high-quality client service, and improve operational efficiency. Responsibilities include:

  1. Navigate complexities of cross-border engagements and advise on restructuring and planning opportunities.
  2. Help clients design and implement personalized service plans for privately owned entities, entrepreneurs, and HNW individuals.
  3. Assist the team with issues like wealth management, compliance, equity expansion, divestiture, exit strategies, and intergenerational wealth transfers.
  4. Engage in open coaching conversations at all levels.
  5. Balance big-picture thinking with managing relevant details.
  6. Provide technical expertise in your field of specialty.
  7. Contribute to an environment where people and technology thrive together.
  8. Encourage team members to share opinions and have a voice.
  9. Lead open conversations with teams, clients, and stakeholders to build trust.
  10. Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.
Experience and skills you'll use to solve
  • A Master’s degree in Tax, a Canadian CPA or equivalent, and a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation, or pursuing these, are assets.
  • Experience in public accounting or law firms handling complex cross-border Canada-US tax planning for high-net-worth clients, with knowledge of Canadian tax laws, is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent research, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure with a proactive attitude.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is preferred to support or collaborate with bilingual clients and colleagues.
