Job summary

Stantec is seeking an intermediate process mechanical engineer in Burnaby, BC, focusing on planning and engineering design of municipal and industrial water/wastewater conveyance projects. You will work across Western Canada on a range of pump stations, storage, and conveyance systems, contributing from concept through construction and start-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
• P.Eng. (or eligible in BC) is required.
• 5–10 years of experience in water/wastewater infrastructure.
• Familiarity with hydraulic modelling tools (AFT Fathom, InfoWater/InfoWorks, WaterGEMS/SewerGEMS or equivalent).
• Experience with large-diameter mains or force mains is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design water, wastewater, and stormwater pump stations (lift, booster, drainage).
• Perform hydraulic calculations and modeling.
• Size and select pumps, valves, piping systems, and mechanical equipment.
• Develop pump station layouts and related drawings/specifications.
• Support hydraulic modeling of transmission mains and conveyance networks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support project delivery.
