City of Prince Rupert is seeking a Labourer IV in the Public Works Department. The role involves performing manual labour across water, wastewater and civil infrastructure projects in Prince Rupert, BC.

You will work under supervision and may require overtime and weekend on-call shifts. Required: 5 years of relevant civil construction experience, valid BC driver’s licences, and certifications or plans to obtain EOCP/water/waste certifications within two years.

Qualifications

• Must have 5 years of recent and relevant experience in installation/construction of civil infra (asphalt, concrete, utilities).
• Must score 70% or better on the test.
• Must understand and report in English; follow verbal instructions.
• Two-year plan to obtain one of the requirements (e.g., EOCP certs or 4000 hours experience).

Responsabilités

• Follow safe work practices.
• Perform water/wastewater utility knowledge from reservoirs to outfalls.
• Maintain civil infra including concrete and asphalt.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment.
• Work independently or in a team; liaise with the public and coworkers.

Formation

Dogwood Diploma or GED

Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence

Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence w/ Air Brake Endorsement

Water Distribution Operator 1 EOCP certification

Wastewater Collection Operator 1 EOCP certification

Chlorine Handlers’ Certification

CSU Wastewater & Water Distribution Courses (Volume 1)
