JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives , this position is responsible to coordinate activities and provide consultative advice related to the planning, integration, tracking, and reporting of programs, projects, and incidents within OPG’s Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Program. The role also maintains governance systems, supports emergency management, and participates in risk assessments and compliance activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Coordinate activities and provide consultative advice for planning, integration, tracking, and reporting of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Program initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed plans, strategy documents, and governance systems in accordance with project management and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the design, evaluation, and coordination of emergency management exercises and response plans.
  • Maintain and update policies, standards, procedures, and associated documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in internal and external compliance evaluations, audits, and benchmarking studies to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct public safety risk assessments and apply control measures as per established standards and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain inventories of dams, ancillary features, and incident databases to support continuous improvement.
  • Act as technical lead for assigned staff on projects and work activities, providing direction and quality assurance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Emergency Management, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in hydroelectric/thermal station operations, emergency management, or related fields.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk and safety assessments, emergency management, managed systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with GIS, spreadsheets, databases, and computer-based applications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with technical writing, training program development, and delivery.
  • Working knowledge of audit techniques, incident investigation, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with administration, including understanding financial, economic, and social implications of safety issues.
