A public health organization is seeking a Public Health Inspector I in Grande Prairie. The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive environmental public health program and perform inspections to ensure community health. You will need to hold a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and a Public Health Inspection Certificate. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non‑pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Public Health Inspector I and appointed Executive Officer under the authority of the Public Health Act, you will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive environmental public health program within an assigned geographical area. You will perform work duties in the interest of prevention, correcting or limiting the effects of environmental health hazards, whether physical, chemical or biological in nature, which may adversely affect the health of individuals or communities. You will support individual and community wellness through monitoring inspections, disease surveillance, consultation and enforcement of the Public Health Act and regulations within safe food, safe drinking water, safe recreational water, safe built environment and healthy environments.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or in a related field of study plus a recognized Environmental Health technical program. Completion of certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada). Active Member in Good Standing with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
CIPHI Certification.
Experience Preferred.
