Job summary

The Lester B. Pearson School Board is seeking a readaptation officer to support adult students with learning challenges, promoting functional autonomy and social integration. You will guide school personnel and parents while developing and reviewing individualized education plans within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include leading professional development, coordinating the SOS Department, and organizing information sessions and staff events across two campuses. Summer work required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, psychoeducation, social work or a related field.
• Experience working with adults who have developmental and behavioral challenges in educational settings.
• Deescalation training an asset.
• Knowledge of ASD best practices in inclusive education settings.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must possess a car and a valid driver’s license; able to work in summer; able to drive between campuses.

Responsibilities

• Detect, evaluate, and guide adult students experiencing learning challenges.
• Create conditions conducive to the development of functional autonomy.
• Provide intervention focused on attitudes and behaviors affecting learning and social integration.
• Offer guidance and support to school personnel and parents.
• Develop and implement psychoeducational services meeting school board needs.
• Participate in ASEP development and multidisciplinary team reviews.
• Lead professional development workshops and present to staff.
• Coordinate SOS Department and oversight of exam technology and scheduling.
• Oversee the Alternative program with recruitment, testing and teacher support.
• Organize staff Ped days and information sessions; co-chair Resource Department meetings.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty
