Integral to our team, you’re tasked with providing exceptional psychiatric care, reaching out to individuals battling complex and enduring mental health challenges. This includes shining a light of hope for those facing severe mental illnesses and substance use disorders. As a psychiatrist at RIH and KMHSU, your unique strengths will be pivotal in a variety of areas. You’ll engage in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, navigate the complexities of advanced pharmacological treatments, and offer essential psychosocial support. Educating patients and their support networks will be a key aspect of your work, illuminating the path to understanding and managing their conditions. You’ll advocate for a seamless integration of mental health care with overall wellness, employing a compassionate, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented methodology that underscores your commitment to each individual’s well-being. The new Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower at RIH offers advanced child and adolescent mental health services, a specialized mental health and substance use inpatient unit, and a 30-bed general psychiatric unit. This includes 20 general beds, 10 high observation beds, and 3 seclusion beds. Your dedication to educational excellence will shine as you mentor peers, medical undergraduates, postgraduate Family Practice residents, and participants in the UBC-Okanagan Psychiatry program.
