Qualifications

Overview

Fantastic opportunity for a general adult Psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department at Kelowna General Hospital. Our group of Psychiatrists provides service to KGH’s 30 bed inpatient unit, 6 bed Adult MH Intensive Care Unit, consults to the medical/surgical units and the emergency department, as well as maintaining a community based practice. Duties include patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assistance with the development and maintenance of appropriate programs, policies, and procedures. This collaborative team treats the serious and persistent mental illness population with intensive case management support. There are opportunities in supporting the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic or the broader community through telepsychiatry. The role offers teaching opportunities to medical students and residents as KGH is affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program. Leadership development opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program for emerging physician leaders.

Qualifications
  • You\'ll hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • If you’re a US-trained physician with ABMS certification in psychiatry, you may be eligible to practice under the USA certified class.
  • To practice medicine here, you’ll have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
