Job summary

Jobtailor in Toronto, Ontario is seeking an experienced psychiatrist to conduct comprehensive assessments and manage a broad range of mental health conditions. You will develop individualized treatment plans that include pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy, and provide ongoing follow-up and medication management.

The role requires FRCPC in Psychiatry, independent CPSO licensure, CMPA membership, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including psychologists and family physicians.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and risk assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide spectrum of mental health conditions, including mood, anxiety, psychotic, and trauma-related disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacotherapy and supportive psychotherapy.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up care and medication management.
  • Offer consultation and shared-care support to family physicians and other referring providers.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical documentation in compliance with CPSO standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance, and patient safety initiatives.

Job description

  • Provide ongoing follow-up care and medication management
  • Offer consultation and shared-care support to family physicians and other referring providers
  • Collaborate with psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical documentation in compliance with CPSO standards and organizational policies
  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance, and patient safety initiatives as required
Requirements
  • MD degree from an accredited medical school
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Psychiatry
  • Holding an independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • CMPA membership
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaborative skills
  • Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred; subspecialty interests welcomed
