Job summary

Government of Nunavut in Iqaluit invites applications for a Psychiatric Nursing Specialist. Reporting to the Territorial Director Mental Health and Addictions, you will lead the development and delivery of evidence-based psychiatric nursing services across the territory.

You must hold an undergraduate nursing degree, a certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing, and current registration; five years of psychiatric nursing experience. A master's degree is an asset.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate nursing degree or equivalent required.
• Certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing.
• Registration with a professional governing body in good standing.
• Five (5) years of psychiatric or mental health nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish goals, objectives and indicators for community-clinic and hospital-based mental health programs and monitor achievement.
• Provide direction regarding interpretation of existing legislation and regulations.
• Conduct stakeholder consultations with GN departments, social services providers, health care professionals, healers, Elders, and community groups.
• Address concerns related to regional human resource planning and management with the Regional Manager.
• Ensure mandatory certifications/accreditations are current and participate in recertification as required.
• Create and distribute interdepartmental and inter-sectorial communication related to Psychiatric Nursing as required.
