Job summary

The Department of Emergency Management in Nova Scotia is seeking a Ground Search and Rescue Programs Lead to coordinate GSAR activities across the province. You will liaise with GSAR teams, municipalities, and provincial/federal partners to align programs with government objectives.

Ideal candidates have leadership experience in emergency management, strong stakeholder relations, and proven ability to manage policy development, funding, and program delivery in a multi-agency environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in emergency management, public safety, business/public administration, or a related field.
• Six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Department’s lead representative and strategic liaison between the Province and GSAR teams.
• Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of GSAR programs and initiatives.
• Work with senior management to gain buy-in for policies and programs related to GSAR operations.
