Job description

We're looking for a Production Technician to join our Prototyping & Manufacturing team in Kitchener. This is a hands-on role building real products: assembling electronics, mechanical systems, and hardware for clients across IoT, cleantech, and industrial sectors.

Waterloo Technical is a product design and engineering consultancy that's been bringing hardware products to life for over 14 years. Our team of ~20 works out of two facilities in downtown Kitchener, with a prototyping shop, assembly area, and warehouse. You'll be trained on our production lines and processes by our senior manufacturing team.

What You'll Do
  • Assemble electronic and mechanical products following SOPs and work instructions
  • Perform quality checks during and after assembly
  • Handle warehouse tasks: pulling parts from inventory, packing products, labelling, and loading shipments
  • Receive inbound shipments, organize inventory, and keep the workspace clean and orderly
  • Work with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and basic test instruments
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortable with hands-on, physical work in a workshop and warehouse environment
  • Reliable and detail oriented, with pride in the quality and consistency of your work
  • Able to follow written instructions precisely
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools
  • A good attitude and a willingness to learn
Nice to Have
  • Soldering experience or basic electronics knowledge
  • A technical diploma or certificate
  • You've taken apart a toaster just to see how it works
Why This Role

This isn't the same widget every day. You'll work across a variety of products and industries, with direct mentorship from our senior team. As our manufacturing operations grow, so does the path in front of you: from Technician to Senior Technician and into team lead roles. We promote from within.

Compensation is $20–24/hour depending on experience, plus health benefits and profit sharing.

If you like working with your hands and want to build things that actually ship to customers, we'd love to hear from you.
