Job summary

SR Staffing in Montreal, QC seeks a Propulsion Engineer to support CFM56 engine maintenance, repair and overhaul. You will partner with production teams to troubleshoot, aid in disassembly/assembly, and resolve engineering discrepancies while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role involves MRB actions, technical documentation, investigations, and collaboration with OEMs and regulators. French and English fluency is required; multiple shifts may be available to fit production needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Approximately 5 years of relevant MRO experience.
  • Working knowledge of FARs, CARs, SBs, and ADs.
  • Experience with ATA Chapter 72 components including LLPs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in French and English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on engineering support during CFM56 engine disassembly and assembly.
  • Collaborate with powerplant engineers on inspection findings and day-to-day questions.
  • Support MRB actions and engineering dispositions.
  • Communicate technical topics with OEMs, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in investigations related to warranty or quality concerns.
  • Ensure work order documentation aligns with technical specs.
  • Work with configuration and methods teams during reviews and PMA/DER activities.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining engineering procedures and instructions.
  • Support evaluation and preparation of repair solutions.

Job description

The Propulsion Engineer provides technical engineering support for CFM56 engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities. This role works closely with production teams to troubleshoot technical issues, support engine disassembly and assembly activities, and resolve engineering discrepancies while ensuring compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.

The Propulsion Engineer contributes to maintaining engine integrity, operational efficiency, and on‑time delivery by supporting investigations, Material Review Board (MRB) actions, and technical documentation across engine operations.

To support operational requirements, candidates interested in day, evening, or weekend shift opportunities are encouraged to apply. These schedules offer consistency and can provide additional flexibility during the week.

Location: Montreal, QC, Canada

Salary Range: $75-$150k (flexible/based on experience)

Shift
  • Day Shift: Monday–Friday, approximately 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
  • Evening Shift: Monday–Thursday, approximately 12:00 PM–10:00 PM, offering long weekends each week

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to production teams during CFM56 engine disassembly and assembly activities.
  • Collaborate with powerplant engineers within production teams, offering technical guidance regarding inspection findings, scope adjustments, and day‑to‑day engineering questions.
  • Support the review and resolution of Material Review Board (MRB) requests and engineering findings in alignment with operational schedules and turnaround objectives.
  • Communicate technical topics clearly and professionally with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), regulatory authorities, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in investigations related to warranty claims, quality concerns, or engine events, contributing to technical reports and root‑cause analyses as needed.
  • Ensure work order documentation aligns with applicable technical specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Work closely with configuration and methods engineering teams during publication reviews and PMA/DER review activities.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering procedures and technical instructions.
  • Support the evaluation and preparation of engineering disposition procedures and repair solutions.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years of relevant technical experience in engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable aviation regulations, including FARs, CARs, Service Bulletins (SBs), and Airworthiness Directives (ADs).
  • Experience with ATA Chapter 72 engine components, including familiarity with life‑limited parts (LLPs), fan frames, compressors, turbines, exhaust systems, LRUs, and accessories.
  • Background in aircraft propulsion systems and technical troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to participate in technical investigations and engineering analyses with appropriate guidance.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in French and English.
Preferred
  • Holds, is eligible for, or has an interest in obtaining engineering delegation or certification such as Design Engineer (DE), Design Approval Representative (DAR), Designated Engineering Representative (DER), or equivalent regulatory delegation.
