Job summary

Ryan is seeking a Property Tax Consultant to join our Ontario team. You will research tax issues, reconcile databases, and perform detailed property tax calculations with a collaborative group. The role emphasizes client service, integrity, and driving revenue for the Firm.

Ideal candidates bring analytical and problem-solving skills, plus strong verbal and written communication. A bachelor's degree and relevant experience are expected, with incentives based on performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business/Management, IT, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Real Estate or related field.
  • 1–3 years audit or tax-related experience preferred.
  • Beneficial: AACI, AIMA, CRA, MIMA, RPA certifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive team member experience.
  • Respond to client inquiries and tax authority requests.
  • Work with clients and taxing authorities on a national basis.
  • Attend client meetings and property inspections.
  • Review client property tax records and renditions.
  • Analyze assessment notices and identify potential reductions.

Job description

The Property Tax Consultant ("Consultant") works with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for clients and to gain an understanding of how the client computes each component of property tax. This includes researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations. The taxing authority verifies the issues, and the Consultant assists the team with this process. The Consultant is responsible for creating positive team member experiences, which lead to excellent client service and drive revenue and profit for the Firm.

The ideal candidate with have analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with strong people skills. The successful candidate will be effective in researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations. Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Public Administration, Real Estate or other degree with Master's in Business Discipline.
  • Relevant work experience preferred (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs) or Bachelor's degree and one to three years audit or tax related experience.
  • The following accreditations and/or diploma are considered beneficial: AACI, AIMA, CRA, MIMA and RPA.
  • Desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates And Licenses

Valid driver's license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation Disclosure

For certain Ontario based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $48,000.00 - $62,700.00. The Firm makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience. Roles may be eligible for incentive compensation.

Work Environment
  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Position requires regular interaction with clients and interface with external vendors in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Independent travel requirement (visiting real estate portfolio): Up to 10-20%.
