Job summary

A recruitment firm is looking for a Senior Property Accountant in Toronto for a 4-month contract. Responsibilities include maintaining G/L, preparing financial reports, and annual budgeting. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in residential property accounting and strong Excel skills. Bilingual candidates are preferred. You must reside in the Greater Toronto Area and have work authorization in Canada.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in residential property accounting.
  • Proven experience with Yardi Rent Cafe is essential.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain G/L and working files for properties by recording month-end close entries.
  • Perform balance sheet, bank, and HST reconciliations.
  • Prepare cash flows, distributions, and contributions to owners.
  • Develop annual budgets and forecasts along with variance analysis.
  • Support property audits and financial reporting.

About Our Client

Our client is sourcing a Senior Property Accountant for a 4‑month contract.

About the Opportunity
  • Maintain G/L and working files for all properties by recording and posting month‑end close entries.
  • Balance sheet, bank and HST reconciliations.
  • Preparation of cash flows, distributions, and contributions to owners.
  • Prepare monthly Property reporting packages, variance analysis and shortfall analysis.
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts for the property with supporting schedules and variance analysis. Provide support to property audits.
  • Prepare Financial and CAM statements and tenant year‑end billings.
  • Financial reporting, budget planning, forecasting, and refining or streamlining accounting policy and procedures where necessary.
About You
  • Bilingual essential (Good to have)
  • 3-5 years experience in residential property accounting. (Must-have)
  • Experience in Yardi Rent Cafe
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Have excellent organization skills and be detail oriented.
  • Should be able to work under pressure and prioritize workload.
  • Should have excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills and be able to interact at all organizational levels.
