Job summary

EVR is seeking a Projects Lead, Environment to ensure environmental compliance across site projects at Fording River Operations. You will lead reviews of project conditions, drive implementation, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage priorities and timelines.

The role emphasizes leadership, effective communication, and strong analytical skills to advance environmental protection plans and monitoring programs within a dynamic mining context.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Science in an environmental related field.
  • Possession or ability to gain a BC professional designation for applicable programs.
  • Minimum five years’ experience providing technical direction on environmental risks and project evaluations.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices related to water/air quality, waste, spill response, wildlife, fisheries and remediation.
  • Strong project management experience across multiple projects and budgets.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Lead, Environment, the Projects Lead, Environment is responsible for ensuring the environmental aspects of all projects are being met and achieve environmental compliance. This site-based role will focus on the review and understanding of conditions associated with all projects and ensuring those conditions are successfully implemented at Fording River Operations.

To be successful, we are looking for a self-motivated team player with excellent leadership, consultation, and facilitation abilities; someone with the ability to manage challenging priorities and can move processes forward. This person will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of multidisciplinary teams. This role presents a diverse range of challenges across multiple subject areas and requires a critical thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Lastly, you will be a process-oriented individual with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Support the development and review of Environmental Protection Plans, Construction and Environmental Monitoring Plans, and Care of Water Plans
  • Conduct individual project specific Effectiveness Reviews to proactively identify areas needing improvement
  • Support reclamation planning and construction activities and closure planning work
  • Support on site regulatory inspections and follow-up reporting and communications
  • Collaboratively work with other groups and departments to create a consistent approach to support construction planning, execution, and post construction activities for projects with environmental involvement
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Science in an environmental related field is preferred
  • Hold, or have the ability to gain a professional designation and meet the BC provincial requirements of a qualified professional for applicable programs is an asset
  • Minimum five years’ experience providing technical direction on environmental risks and effective project evaluations associated with resource management
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations related to water and air quality, waste management, spill response, wildlife, fisheries and remediation
  • Excellent project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical direction of multiple projects and budgets
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Salary: $101,400 CAD / year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate\'s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
