Qualifications

  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.).
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and a personal vehicle required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are met.

Hazardous Materials

Thunder Bay, ON

Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Thunder Bay office. Reporting to the Operation Manager, the Project Technologist will conduct effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections and audits. You will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health and safety documentation, prepare technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.

A Day in the life of a Project Technologist at Pinchin:
  • Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, lead etc.
  • Collect and interpret various building material samples
  • Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors
  • Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous building material, indoor air quality and mould concerns
  • Inspect abatement contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
  • Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
  • Manage time of projects effectively and efficiently
  • Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
  • Maintain and enhance quality control within the group
