Job description

Position : PROJECT SCHEDULER

Greenfire Resources (GFR) is seeking an experienced Project Scheduler to support project scheduling, planning, and budgeting activities. The Project Scheduler is responsible for maintaining project schedules and supporting projects control team with cost tracking and forecasting to ensure streamlined project delivery across engineering, procurement, and construction phases. This critical role ensures effective project planning, coordination, and progress tracking in alignment with project goals. The Project Scheduler collaborates closely with project managers, discipline leads, and subcontractors to drive schedule integrity, performance, and predictability in the execution of GFR projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Drilling, Completions and Capital Projects

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Leads the development and management of integrated project schedules across all WBS levels, ensuring alignment with project milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using scheduling software such as Primavera Cloud.
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling activities across multiple projects and leads interactive planning sessions with stakeholders to refine and validate schedules.
  • Communicates with site staff and subcontractors to determine the actual construction progress, update schedules and provide regular reporting.
  • Identify critical paths, key milestones, and interfaces between disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Develop Basis of Schedule documents including assumptions, exclusions, and risks.
  • Apply a solid understanding of project controls and procedures to support schedule integrity and compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze project schedules to identify variances, trends, and risks.
  • Evaluate schedule forecasts, conduct schedule risk assessments, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure Project schedule alignment with GFR’s integrated master schedule
  • Identifies and communicates schedule delays, impacts and variances to the baseline GFR Development Plan and recommends recovery strategies.
  • Communicates and presents schedule updates and complex schedule information to internal and external project stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Review and validate third‑party schedule submissions for compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly schedule reports, including narratives and visualizations.
  • Provide ad‑hoc reports and schedule updates as requested by management.
  • Participate in change management processes, assessing schedule impacts and updating baselines.
  • Develop and contribute to the enhancement of planning tools and processes by integrating lessons learned and industry best practices.
  • Work with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather input and validate schedule logic and durations.
  • Assess schedule impacts due to design changes, delays, and other project events.
  • Support the change management process by evaluating time impacts for scope changes and claims.
  • Provide input to risk assessments and mitigation strategies from a scheduling perspective.
  • Drives and promotes capital efficiency in Project planning
Required Experience and Skill Set
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management; 10+ years of relevant industry experienced candidates may be considered.
  • 7 years of industry experience; with >
  • 4 years of relevant planning and scheduling experience in EPCM projects within the energy and / or infrastructure sectors.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Oracle Primavera Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of schedule analytics, including Critical Path Method (CPM), Earned Value Analysis (EVA), Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of planning / scheduling & project management principles, best practices and techniques; cost control processes and budgeting.
  • Proficiency with 3D / 4D scheduling tools would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent task management skills with the ability to handle tight deadlines, and adaptability to changing / competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle phases (FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning), EPCM planning, project reporting, and critical path analysis.
  • Knowledge of procurement, contracts, and construction management processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and adaptability skills.
  • Hands‑on experience with field construction operations is an asset.
  • PMP, PSP, or other project management / scheduling certifications considered an asset.
  • Willing to travel as required to project site.
