Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Project Procurement Manager in Calgary to lead procurement and contracts across FEL1–FEL4 project phases. The role involves coordinating with project management, engineering, controls and construction to ensure cost-effective, timely delivery of materials and services.

This is a 12-month contract; applicants in other Canadian offices are also considered. You will oversee a team, manage supplier relationships, and ensure compliance with governance and incoterms.

Qualifications

  • Experience in EPCM environments on capital projects.
  • Proficiency in drafting/negotiating contracts and terms.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of procurement processes, governance, and supplier management.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, coordinate, and implement Materials Management and Contracts Management strategies.
  • Oversee procurement processes and templates for the project.
  • Manage full procurement lifecycle from package definition to closeout.
  • Supervise procurement team across contracting, purchasing, expediting, and logistics.
  • Interface with client to ensure objectives and actions are met; manage risk.
  • Perform resource planning incl. man-hour allocation for procurement activities.

Project Procurement Manager

The Project Procurement Manager (PPM) is involved in a project from the proposal/study (FEL1, FEL2 and FEL3) phases up to the project close‑out and handover of the FEL4 project execution phase. The major interfaces are project management, engineering, project controls and construction management to ensure a cross‑functional implementation of materials management and contracts management processes. The Procurement Manager directs, controls and co‑ordinates the procurement of engineering / construction services, equipment and materials for the project obtaining optimum performances with regards to cost, technical requirements and quality to satisfy the project budget and schedule. The PPM is the custodian of the entire procurement cycle on the project which includes materials management and contracts management at the home and/or site offices. This is a 12‑month contract position. We are also open to applicants based in Mississauga and Vancouver working out of our local offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for drafting/coordinating/compiling Materials Management and Contracts Management strategies and plans as well as the Procurement section of the Project Execution Plan
  • Responsible for implementing all procurement processes and procedures including forms and templates to be used on the project
  • Responsible for the entire project procurement lifecycle from the procurement package definition stage to the closeout stage
  • Provides supervision, training and assistance to all procurement team members across Contracting, Purchasing, Expediting, Vendor Quality Surveillance, Materials Management, Logistics and Site Materials Control disciplines; promotes and maintains a healthy and harmonious work environment
  • Verifies and ensures integrity of the entire procurement lifecycle, validates that all activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant procedures, maintains sound business practices in an ethical manner
  • Interfaces with the client to ensure that objectives are achieved, potential problems are identified, and preventive or corrective actions are taken
  • Performs resource planning, which includes man‑hour allocation and management
Qualifications And Experience
  • Experience (12-20 years) in an EPCM project environment with capital projects, specifically in management role
  • Related training in Contracts/Legal as well as general project and management related training
  • Experience with drafting of commercial terms and conditions and an understanding of accompanying legal implications
  • Proficient negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes which include both materials and contracts management and corporate governance principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality systems, environmental, health and safety regulations, expediting techniques, Incoterms applications, and procurement systems reporting tools
  • Experience, understanding, ability to set up and execute contracting and purchasing strategies
