About the role

The Project Operations Leader will provide hands‑on leadership and management of end‑to‑end operations for the WA Rebate Scheme and the Renewables lending business across Western Australia and South Australia. This includes management of a combined team across both regions, ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency in rebate administration, loan processing, and settlement activities.

This role is key to optimising workflows, meeting SLA targets, leading quality assurance, and driving continuous process improvements. Acting as a senior escalation point for complex issues, the Lead will also manage stakeholder relationships, including with government agencies and internal partners, primarily in WA/SA with coordination support involving Sydney stakeholders.

The role requires a balance of operational oversight, project coordination, and active team mentoring to foster a high‑performing, compliant, and customer‑focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

  • Perform and oversee detailed quality assurance reviews and daily quality checks to maintain adherence to regulatory and internal standards, driving continuous improvements
  • Manage operational queues and workflows to meet agreed SLA and turnaround time targets consistently
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex issues or high‑priority cases requiring swift resolution
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management
  • Coordinate and support government project delivery related to renewable energy initiatives in WA and SA, ensuring projects are executed within timelines and regulatory frameworks
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders including government agencies and community partners
  • Facilitate collaboration with Sydney‑based stakeholders and internal teams, ensuring alignment and smooth communication with minimal travel requirements
Process Improvement & Efficiency
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current operations and processes, designing and implementing sustainable improvements to optimise productivity and accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, such as compliance, finance, and IT, to develop and enhance operational policies and systems
  • Use operational metrics and data analysis to track team performance, inform decision‑making, and prepare regular reports for senior leadership
Team Development & Onboarding
  • Support recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring effective integration of new team members
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture focused on continuous learning, accountability, and high‑quality service delivery
About You
  • Minimum 3 years’ people management experience within operations or project management, preferably within financial services or renewable energy sectors
  • Strong knowledge of operational compliance requirements, financial regulations, and customer verification processes in Australian lending environments
  • Proven track record in leading hands‑on teams to achieve quality assurance and SLA targets within regulated environments
  • Experience managing government projects or collaborating with government agencies is desirable but not mandatory
Key Competencies
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities with a proactive, hands‑on approach
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities concurrently
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including ability to coordinate across locations and teams
