An opportunity currently exists for a Project Manager within our Water Group's Civil/Conveyance Team in our Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray or Lethbridge office. The successful candidate will combine strong project management and technical leadership skills to lead and participate in the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater conveyance and related civil infrastructure for municipal, industrial, and private-sector clients.

As a member of our Conveyance Team, you will lead and support a diverse portfolio of work, including major infrastructure projects, regional water and wastewater systems, and municipal engineering assignments for communities throughout Alberta. Project work may include greenfield infrastructure; upgrades and expansions to existing systems; water transmission and wastewater collection systems; pumping facilities; trenchless installations; infrastructure rehabilitation; and other municipal servicing projects.

Assignments may range from focused local improvements to large, multi-community infrastructure programs and may span the full project lifecycle, from business development, feasibility studies, and infrastructure planning through detailed design, tendering, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.

In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage project scope, budgets, schedules, quality, risks, and deliverables, and serve as a key point of contact for clients, municipalities, contractors, agencies, and other stakeholders. You will guide the work of project teams, mentor junior and intermediate staff, support pursuits and proposals, and participate in technical work and design as appropriate to your experience and the needs of each project.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of project management experience, client relationship skills, and technical knowledge in civil and conveyance infrastructure. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure projects, strengthen client relationships, support business development, and help grow our Water practice across Alberta and beyond.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout of projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Manage project scope, deliverables, budgets, schedules, risks, change, quality, and overall financial performance.
  • Establish clear priorities for project teams, including defining scopes of work, budgets, schedules, responsibilities, and expectations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams throughout the project lifecycle and promote effective communication among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to confirm requirements, manage expectations, and obtain required approvals.
  • Maintain and develop strong client relationships and identify opportunities to support clients with future infrastructure needs.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering studies, reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, tender documents, and other contract documents.
  • Lead or arrange quality assurance and quality control reviews and confirm that completed work is accurate, complete, and consistent with project requirements.
  • Administer or support construction contracts, including responding to construction issues, reviewing changes, coordinating field services, and supporting project closeout.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff and support the development of their technical, project management, and client-service skills.
  • Participate in technical analysis and design, as appropriate, to support efficient project delivery and informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to professional and industry organizations and, where appropriate, prepare technical papers or presentations.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven project management experience delivering water, wastewater, conveyance, or related civil infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, procedures, and controls. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration.
