Leading infrastructure contractor involved in underground utilities, microtunneling, and pipeline projects is seeking an experienced Project Manager for projects in Vancouver. Outpost Recruitment is excited to collaborate with our client on this full-time, permanent role.
The project management team will oversee a phase of a large, complex project or manage multiple large projects in the $20m+ range. This position is responsible for all aspects of project success, from initial proposal and bidding to exceeding client expectations, to profitable completion, with a focus on safety performance. The ideal candidate must be reliable, self-motivated, goal-oriented, organized, and professional. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teamwork abilities, and quick decision-making are critical for success.
Key Responsibilities of Project Manager:
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers, following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify workplace hazards and communicate unsafe actions or conditions for correction.
- Promote quality by implementing applicable Best Practice and Quality Control Programs (QCP), policies, and procedures, including submittal of all QCP documents, checklists, and client-required submissions.
- Consult with project personnel to outline work plans and assign duties and responsibilities.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
- Build and sustain relationships with clients and subcontractors, managing all project communications related to planning, scope, budget, subcontracting, environmental compliance, and schedule.
- Develop and implement project policies, establish project control systems, and execute project plans.
- Manage projects to ensure profitable and timely operations, exceeding budget and quality expectations.
- Handle contract management from initial discussions through final close-out, including reviewing and reconciling variances.
- Review project status reports and adjust schedules or plans as needed.
- Prepare and review project reports for management and clients, including monthly projections.
- Report issues requiring office support, such as procurement, safety, environmental concerns, or design questions.
- Coordinate activities with government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Project Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with 8+ years of civil infrastructure experience in underground construction, including pipelines, structures, shoring, geotechnical work, surveying, and structural design.
- Strong experience with project management software such as Primavera P6 and HCSS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license for applicable vehicle types and a clean driving record.
- PMP, PE, or other relevant certifications are advantageous.
