The Project Manager (Tunnels) Role

- Provide constructive feedback to Project Managers and Coordinators to support their growth.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to attract top talent and foster an engaging, sustainable work environment.
- Oversee project execution from start to finish, maintaining rigorous controls, assessing risks, and leading your team effectively.
- Coordinate trade partner activities and select suitable partners.
- Manage projects by advising and supporting Project Delivery Teams, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients to achieve project goals.
- Encourage efficiency and proactive problem-solving within your team.
- Negotiate effectively to achieve positive outcomes while prioritizing project objectives.
- Promote and uphold the company's health, safety, and environmental standards in collaboration with the HS&E team.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards through attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Utilize your financial management skills to plan and control project budgets.
- Apply your risk management expertise to minimize project risks.
Experience and Requirements of Project Manager (Tunnels):
- 10+ years’ experience in civil construction, especially tunnels, underground works, deep shafts, earth stabilization, metro, and rail projects.
- University Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and team leadership.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to influence and resolve issues effectively.
- Strong knowledge of tunnel construction methods such as TBM (rock and soft ground), SEM/NATM, cut and cover, road header, and micro-tunneling.
- Knowledge of geology and geotechnical engineering.
- Experience managing large-scale projects in partnership environments.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods like Design-Build and P3.
- Understanding of financial management, building codes, and legislation.
- Passion for team development and organizational growth.
- Proficiency with scheduling software and good computer skills.
- This position is based in Vancouver, BC, with the ability to work across the lower mainland area.
- Frequent travel is required.
