Job description

Veritree & Job Overview

veritree is an award-winning climate tech start-up based in Vancouver. Launched in 2021, our technology measures and verifies the impact of global restoration efforts from the ground up. We are on a mission to plant 1 billion verified trees by 2030, collaborating with businesses, planting organizations, and consumers who believe in the transformative power of verified restoration projects to create real and meaningful impact for the planet, nature, and people.

veritree is seeking a Project Manager, Terrestrial, to own our North American terrestrial reforestation portfolio end-to-end, along with a small number of global terrestrial accounts. This is a hands-on relationship and process role: you will run the day-to-day relationships with multiple planting partners across Canada and the United States, keeping monitoring on track, ensuring partners follow our processes, and building and refining the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that govern how terrestrial projects run.

This role suits a Registered Professional Forester who is organized, comfortable running multiple partner relationships at once, keeping monitoring programs on schedule, and developing the processes that make results repeatable. We value candidates who are direct, transparent, and accountable.

Given this is a hybrid role based in Vancouver, BC, priority will be given to local candidates who are able to work from our office on a hybrid basis.

6 Month Key Outcomes (6m KOs)
  • Own the end-to-end relationships with all of our terrestrial planting partners, running recurring business reviews, triaging field issues, and following through consistently so partners experience veritree as organized, transparent, and dependable
  • Ensure data collection and monitoring is on track across every account: high-integrity planting data, survival checks scheduled and completed on an annual cadence, and partners following our processes consistently
  • Finish, document, and stabilize the core terrestrial SOP set (planting session, evidence requirements, survival monitoring) and make it repeatable across partners and regions
What You’ll Do
Account & Relationship Management
  • Manage multiple terrestrial planting partner relationships in parallel and serve as the primary point of contact
  • Manage a small number of global terrestrial accounts (for example, in the Philippines and Australia), applying the same standards and processes, and supporting the corporate partners who fund them
  • Own and run all recurring partner meetings and business reviews: setting agendas, driving decisions, and owning follow-through
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and transparently with partners operating across different contexts, and be accountable for every commitment made internally or externally
  • Triage issues that arise in the field and coordinate the right internal teams to resolve them
  • Travel to planting sites for audits and partner visits as needed
  • Experience flying drones and processing data is an asset.
Data, Monitoring & Tree Tracking
  • Keep each partner's planting, monitoring, and survival data accurate and current: owning data hygiene and quality checks on data flowing into our system
  • Make sure monitoring tasks (survival checks at defined intervals, with first survival reports one year after planting) are created, scheduled, and completed across all accounts
  • Manage outstanding monitoring backlogs with a prioritized, batched plan, and provide regular status updates on progress against targets
SOPs & Process
  • Create, refine, and audit the SOPs that define what we expect of terrestrial projects: from planting sessions and evidence requirements to survival monitoring
  • Hold partners to the process: make sure each account follows our SOPs consistently, and work with partners to close gaps where they aren't
  • Write SOPs at a level general enough to adapt across regions, species, and partner capacity, so they can be standardized across all terrestrial projects
