The Laboratory of Dr. Leonard Foster is currently seeking to hire a Project Manager, Technical Applications at the University of British Columbia (UBC) on the Vancouver campus. The successful candidate will provide the technical expertise required for the research projects and will be responsible for managing proteomics projects for the UBC Proteomics Core Facility and associated research sites, including planning, and overall operation of multiple LC-MS/MS systems. The successful candidate will also be responsible for training and supervision of users and management of research projects.
The incumbent will report to the chair of the facility and must work with faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.
Major responsibilities of the position include:
Consequence of Error/Judgement Consequence of errors could result in damage to sensitive scientific equipment, incorrect data and/or delays in projects, which might affect the experiments or results of others in the group, or lead to major delays in publishing, or loss of grant funding.
Supervision Received Works independently, checking with facility director and PIs when necessary.
Supervision Given Demonstrates how to operate highly technical equipment and procedures to students and staff. Supervises technical staff and students on the implementation of new methods.
University degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
