The successful candidate will bring more than 10 years of progressive experience in transportation infrastructure, with strong expertise in rail, light rail transit, subway, commuter rail, bus rapid transit, stations, maintenance facilities, or related civil infrastructure projects.In this role, you will manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinate with clients, transit agencies, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and technical requirements. This position is ideal for a strategic and hands-on project leader who can balance technical delivery, client relationship management, commercial performance, and team leadership.Key Responsibilities* Lead and manage rail and transit projects through planning, design, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and project close-out phases.* Manage multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, architectural, systems, utilities, environmental, construction, and project controls specialists.* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, transit agencies, municipalities, contractors, subconsultants, and project stakeholders.* Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, work plans, cost estimates, risk registers, and resource plans.* Oversee technical deliverables to ensure quality, constructability, compliance with applicable standards, and alignment with client requirements.* Coordinate design reviews, technical submissions, comment resolution, interface management, and interdisciplinary coordination.* Monitor project performance, including schedule, budget, invoicing, change management, risk mitigation, and key performance indicators.* Prepare and present project status reports, technical reports, proposals, presentations, meeting minutes, and executive updates.* Lead client meetings, design coordination workshops, risk reviews, stakeholder sessions, and project progress meetings.* Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, pursuit strategy, technical write-ups, fee estimates, and client presentations.* Promote a strong health, safety, quality, and environmental culture across all project activities.* Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, coordinators, and project team members.* Identify project risks, issues, and opportunities, and implement corrective actions as required.* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, contract requirements, and internal project delivery procedures.Key Competencies* Project leadership and team coordination* Client and stakeholder relationship management* Technical coordination and design management* Risk identification and mitigation* Budget and schedule management* Quality assurance and constructability review* Strong communication and reporting* Strategic thinking and problem solving* Mentorship and people development* Commercial and contractual awarenessQualificationsRequired Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.* Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in rail, transit or transportation infrastructure.* Proven experience managing complex multidisciplinary projects involving rail, subway, LRT, commuter rail, BRT, stations, corridors, maintenance facilities, or related infrastructure.* Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, procurement, and change control.* Experience coordinating with public-sector clients, transit agencies, contractors, municipalities, utilities, and technical stakeholders.* Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and client-facing presentations.* Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.* Knowledge of applicable rail, transit, civil, and transportation standards, codes, and regulations.* Professional designation such as P.Eng. designation in Alberta (APEGA), or eligibility for registration with APEGA, OIQ or eligibility to obtain licensure is preferred.Preferred Qualifications* PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.* Experience with alternative delivery models such as Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, P3, Alliance, or CMAR.* Experience working with major transit or transportation agencies.* Familiarity with rail systems, trackwork, stations, signaling, communications, traction power, utilities, and civil works interfaces.* Experience with proposal development, client account management, and business development.* Strong commercial awareness, including contract management, invoicing, change orders, claims avoidance, and financial reporting.* Bilingual communication skills in English and French would be an asset, especially for roles based in Québec.Additional InformationWe welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities.
