Job Overview :

We seek a driven Project Manager to join our Capital Projects team. You will manage and support capital projects, applying best practices in project management across industrial plant development initiatives. Activities include:

  • Project initiation, scoping, background data collection, permits, due diligence, tracking activities, and managing project lifecycle.
  • Collaborating effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Tracking budgets and project execution.

This full-time, hybrid role (4 days in-office, 1 remote) is based in Toronto and reports to the VP of Capital Projects or Senior Projects Manager. It offers an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and seeks to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive project kickoff workshops to develop charters, objectives, deliverables, budgets, timelines, and roles.
  • Develop detailed scope of work, work breakdown structures, schedules, risk assessments, RACI matrices, and communication plans.
  • Ensure proper due diligence, permits, safety requirements, and stakeholder communication strategies.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, quality control, and project controls.
  • Utilize tools like process maps, cause-and-effect diagrams, and gap analyses to monitor and improve project performance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Lead and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration and clarity on deliverables.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of hands-on project management experience in engineering, industrial, recycling, or mining industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in project controls, planning, and execution from initiation to closure.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; advanced skills in MS Project and Excel preferred.
  • Desirable: certifications like PMP, P.Eng, Six Sigma Black Belt; experience in metals recycling, mining, or related sectors is a plus.
