Job Description

As a Project Manager, Nuclear at ATS Industrial Automation, you will oversee execution and delivery of cutting‑edge automation projects that are shaping the future of clean energy. You are a results‑driven, technically adept professional who thrives on ownership—from initial purchase order through to final customer acceptance. In this high‑impact role, you’ll oversee complex, high‑value nuclear automation projects, guiding cross‑functional teams, cultivating strong customer relationships, and delivering mission‑critical solutions—on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of excellence.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Lead the project team to execute projects on schedule, at or below budget, delivering the contracted scope of work to all applicable codes and standards.
  • Serve as key customer contact for assigned projects, maintaining customer satisfaction and documenting all key project events and issues.
  • Manage project risks, including assessment, identification, and implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Forecast project budgets and allocate resources for labor and materials.
  • Oversee project schedule development and identify all critical path activities.
  • Manage project resources, ensuring that adequate resources are assigned to all project tasks.
  • Ensure timely billing and invoicing, supporting all project milestones and obtaining necessary approvals for on‑time payment.
  • Prepare accurate financial and resource forecasts and provide reports to ATS management.
  • Lead team communications meetings, encourage and mentor employees, and maintain high morale and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and issue weekly project updates to the project team.
  • Coordinate the post‑project employee assessment process and ensure compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Ensure that all project activities comply with safety standards and that a PSHSR is prepared and acted upon.
  • Act as a customer advocate, proactively handle customer concerns, elevate issues when required, and partner with the ATS account manager to manage the customer.
  • Assist Applications Engineering with preparing quotations and customer interaction.
  • Attend project status meetings as requested by the Program Manager.
  • Track contract changes and prepare CORs (Change Order Requests).
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary college diploma, engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering; Completion of or in the process of achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • Must have experience managing automation projects in excess of $1 million with multiple disciplinary teams.
  • Must have a proven track record of providing positive leadership and coordination to a multi‑disciplined project design and construction team.
  • Must have acted in a leading role with a minimum of three years’ experience in a variety of projects/markets on a multidiscipline team.
  • Must have practical working knowledge of robots, PLCs, instrumentation or other machine controls packages, sensors and pneumatics.
  • Preference will be given to those who possess an excellent manufacturing or process engineering background, a superior mechanical aptitude and proven trouble‑shooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers according to deadlines and under pressure‑filled conditions is essential.
  • Familiarity with the use of computerized word processing, spreadsheets and AutoCAD or similar drawing package.
