Job summary

GFT in Toronto, Ontario is seeking a Project Manager, Municipal Roads to lead municipal roadway projects within our Transportation Practice. This hybrid role requires regular attendance at the Toronto office and offers engagement on highways, bridges, and traffic engineering to deliver resilient, multimodal designs.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget, mentor staff, and support client relations and business development, leveraging your civil engineering background and P.Eng designation.

Qualifications

• University degree in civil engineering or related field.
• P.Eng designation required.
• 10+ years of related project experience on municipal roadway projects.
• Familiarity with roadway design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, ORD).
• Technical excellence in civil & roadway design.
• Understanding of multi-disciplinary project coordination and design management.

• Maintain close working relationships with discipline leads, department heads, other project managers, project controls staff, and construction personnel.

What You Will Do

GFT is seeking a Project Manager, Municipal Roads to join our Transportation Practice in Toronto! This role follows a hybrid work model requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

As a Project Manager, Municipal Roads, you will function as a project manager or team lead on municipal roadway projects. You will also participate in and support pursuit and business development efforts, while nurturing and developing client relationships.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Prepare project management plans and manage scope, schedule, and budget.


• Maintain a close working relationship with all discipline leads, department heads, other project managers, project controls staff, and construction personnel.


• Maintain a high level of technical quality on the projects.


• Mentor project staff and participate in hiring processes.


• Provide effective and efficient management of day-to-day operations within the roads and highways team

Education | Experience:

• A university degree in civil engineering or related degree.


• P.Eng. designation required.


• 10+ years of related project experience on municipal roadway projects


• Familiarity with roadway design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, ORD)


• Technical excellence in civil & roadway design


• A thorough understanding of the requirements and complexities of the design and management of multi-disciplinary projects, such as utility coordination, construction staging, traffic management, public consultation, external agency approvals, communication and liaison, coordination of sub-consultants and design groups, schedule and budget control, quality control, construction administration and claims resolution.

What We Prefer You Bring

• Experience in BRT, LRT including intermodal transit facilities an asset.


• Familiarity and experience with various delivery models and P3 projects is an asset.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $108,000.00 to $163,000.00. Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
