Overview

B&B Contracting Group is seeking a dedicated Project Manager/Estimator to join our rail division.

The Project Manager/Estimator plays a key role in the planning, estimating, and execution of rail construction projects. This position is responsible for reviewing and interpreting drawings and specifications to ensure compliance, supporting field construction with technical expertise, and overseeing quality management processes. The role will primarily focus on projects within the Lower Mainland and Northern BC.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and support work plans for assigned projects.
  • Validate the construction of temporary structures and ensure third-party engineering requirements (including inspection frequencies) are met.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the Quality Management Plan, including RFIs, NCRs, ITPs, and quality control check sheets.
  • Produce sketches and redline drawings to support field operations.
  • Track field performance for engineering, scheduling, and quality management purposes.
  • Perform civil quantity take-offs from design documents to support estimating and planning.
  • Prepare internal daily reports and maintain accurate quantity books.
  • Develop and maintain visual schedules and resource-loaded baseline schedules, including critical path analysis.
  • Support the construction team in preparing three-week lookahead schedules and updating project schedules to reflect changes in timing or logic.
  • Assist with the preparation, filing, and management of purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders.
  • Expedite issue resolution with engineers and stakeholders.
  • Compile weekly and monthly project reports for senior management.
  • Assist with daily labour, equipment, and quantity entries for reporting and invoicing.
  • Provide accurate civil take-offs and cost estimates for tendering and ongoing work.
  • Ensure all construction activities meet company quality standards and client specifications.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in project management and/or estimating within the construction industry (rail or heavy civil experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and quality management processes.
  • Proficiency with scheduling and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel within the Lower Mainland and Northern BC as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000 - $130,000 per year

Salary will be adjusted based on skill set and experience
