Rimkus is seeking a motivated Building Science Project Manager to join our Building Envelope Services team in Canada. You will oversee building science and envelope projects from investigations through completion, coordinating field reviews, reporting, design development, contract administration, and client management.

The ideal candidate has a degree in engineering, 5+ years of project coordination, registration or eligibility as EIT/P.Eng., and proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Building Science focus).
Registered or eligible for EIT or P.Eng. with the provincial regulatory body.
Minimum 5+ years of project coordination/management experience in building science or related fields.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; strong technical writing and communication.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple building science and envelope projects concurrently.
Perform field reviews, testing, investigations, and data collection.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation.
Review drawings and submittals for compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate pre-bid, pre-construction, progress, and closeout meetings.

Building Science Project Manager

Overview

Rimkus is seeking a motivated and experienced Building Science Project Manager to join our Building Envelope Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of building science and building envelope projects from investigation through completion. Your work will include field investigations, condition assessments, report preparation, design development, contract administration, quality observation, and client management. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and manufacturers.

Responsibilities

Project Management & Technical Services

Manage multiple building science and building envelope projects concurrently
Perform field reviews, testing, investigations, and data collection
Conduct condition assessments, failure investigations, diagnosis, and remediation evaluations
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation
Complete design assignments of varying scope and complexity
Apply technical methods and engineering principles to solve project-specific challenges
Ensure accuracy of calculations, data collection, analyses, and technical documentation
Measure building dimensions and quantify materials both on-site and from drawings

Design & Documentation

Prepare and review project drawings, specifications, and technical documents
Utilize AutoCAD to support project design and documentation requirements
Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements
Review drawings and specifications prepared by others to verify adequacy of scope, materials, methods, and details

Construction Administration & Quality Assurance

Oversee field reviews, testing programs, and project inspections
Perform quality observations to verify compliance with contract documents, applicable building codes, and industry standards
Coordinate and conduct pre-bid, pre-construction, progress, and project closeout meetings
Provide contract administration services throughout project execution

Team & Client Collaboration

Act as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, manufacturers, and project stakeholders
Provide technical guidance and support to field technicians and technologists
Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
Coordinate project billing inputs and job costing information
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite
Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
Exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding technical accuracy and completeness of documentation
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced consulting environment
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and solve problems proactively
High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to quality service

Qualifications

- Related discipline
Registered, or eligible for registration, as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the applicable provincial regulatory body
Professional designations related to building science, building envelope consulting, or engineering are considered an asset
Minimum 5+ years of project coordination, project management, or consulting experience within building science, building envelope, engineering, or a related industry
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation

The Salary Range for this position is $79,000 - $119,000 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, AND TRAVEL

Physical Demands

Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client's office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime

This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
