Job summary

Convergint is seeking a Project Manager – Building Automation to join our team. The role oversees multi-discipline projects, coordinating engineering, procurement, installation and start-up to ensure on-budget, on-time delivery and strong client satisfaction.

You will lead project teams, liaise with customers, and manage contracts, risk, and performance metrics while upholding Convergint's service culture and values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of project management experience in Building Automation.
  • PMI certification preferred.
  • Experience with Alerton, Tridium, Schneider, Honeywell a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, organize and direct projects from award to completion.
  • Coordinate design engineering, procurement, installation, start-up and commissioning.
  • Manage project cost, schedule, and cash flow to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Interface with customers to maximize satisfaction and service quality.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation plans to control costs and timing.

Job description

Convergint is looking for a Project Manager – Building Automation, to join our amazing culture in our Windsor location. The Project Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing and directing, application engineering, material and equipment procurement, field installation and start-up of assigned projects. You will ensure projects are effectively executed within budgeted cost and time schedules and ensure positive cash flow. In addition, this position is key interface with the customer and responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction on all assigned projects.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
  • Manages, oversees and coordinates all aspects for medium to large, typically more complex projects from award through completion of project. May handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Translates a wide variety of customer needs / requirements requiring originality and ingenuity into detailed proposals and project plans to meet Customer requirements; reviews and approves estimated costs prior to bid; provision of technical assistance to sales force as and when required; project design engineering; supervision of installation labor and sub-contractors preparation of project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, project invoices; manages collections on projects.
  • Proactively communicates project requirements to project team and wider organization as and when required and maintains accurate and up to date records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records necessary for processing of internal and external reports.
  • Identifies potential project risks and develops/implements strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Establish project milestones and analyze costs; utilizes financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports.
  • Manage the execution and review of all scope of work, terms and conditions in customer contracts including cost control, delivery fulfillment, and quality of service and other customer requirements as they arise.
  • Have existing Canadian Government Security Clearances or ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Perform limited range of managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; project budget. Oversees subcontractor selection process and work.
  • Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.

  • Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada (for example, by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or work permit)
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of previous project management experience in Building Automation required
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred
  • Industry-specific certifications and/or licenses a plus; Alerton, Tridium, Schneider, Honeywell
