GHD in Canada is seeking a Project Manager to support our Ontario Transportation Group, with offices in Waterloo, Markham, Mississauga, St. Catharines, or Toronto. You will lead highway design projects and collaborate with provincial agencies and clients to deliver safe, lasting infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in transportation design and strong project leadership, with a Civil Engineering degree and Ontario P.Eng. designation.

• Proven ability to coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience with collaborative design models (e.g., Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, CMGC) is an asset.

Our Ontario Transportation Group is looking for a Project Manager ready to join our growing Canadian Operations in our Waterloo,Markham, Mississauga, St. Catherine’s, or Toronto office.

The Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on projects including highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi-modal infrastructure, and transportation planning. Our team is growing fast in Ontario, striving to create lasting value for our clients by creating and delivering solutions to complex transportation infrastructure problems.

Candidates’ career path

This role is intended for an upcoming Project Manager interested in the advancement of their career leading highway design projects. The role will provide exposure to and opportunities for growth in greater project leadership, business development, staff management, and operations management. The candidate will collaborate across our transportation, environmental, water, and properties and buildings markets to deliver projects for our clients, leveraging the broader strengths of GHD’s teams.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Successful leadership delivering highway design projects for MTO and similar clients as a Project Manager and/or Assistant Project Manager.
• Applying your expertise using a variety of transportation solutions to help our clients, including preliminary design, detail design and contract package delivery, green infrastructure strategies, application of the Environmental Assessment process, intersection and interchange design, digital delivery, integrated transportation technology/ITS solutions, highway and bridge rehabilitation and expansion strategies, and roundabout design.
• Driving high quality results, client satisfaction, and strong financial performance to support the growth of our transportation portfolio.
• Taking ownership for all aspects of the management of projects from proposal to close-out, including managing teams, sub-consultants, budgets, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
• Teamwork in small and large teams. Owning the integration with other engineering disciplines, engineers, and design staff in the production of high-quality project deliverables.
• Managing staff including performance, workload, and supporting their technical and professional development.
• Promoting best practices and leadership in transportation projects.
• Supporting Business Development including capture planning and leading proposals.
• Contribute to the development and execution of the business development strategy for relevant clients, including enhancing client relationships, identifying opportunities, creating capture plans and leading proposals.

What you will bring to the Team

• Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering
• Ontario P.Eng. designation required
• 5-10 years' experience in design and engineering of transportation infrastructure projects, including project management experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong organization and leadership abilities.
• Experience working with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
• Experience working with other highway agencies and municipal transportation clients would be an asset.
• Proven ability to coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience managing design projects in collaborative models (e.g. Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, CMGC) would be an asset.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven track record to develop, mentor, and lead professional technical staff.
• Ability to lead multiple projects and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

• The salary range for this position is $79,000 - $129,000. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
