Job summary

Dynamo is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex industrial electrical construction projects in Canada. You will manage scope, budgets, schedules, procurement, and teams while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring safety and quality across all sites.

The role requires guidance to project teams, coordination with engineering, Subcontractors, and internal departments, and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • PM certification or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial electrical construction/utilities/substations.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible PM experience on medium to large projects.
  • Experience in budgeting, scheduling, contracts, procurement, risk management and project controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of multiple projects.
  • Manage scope, budgets, schedules, forecasts, procurement activities, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and serve as the primary contact for projects.
  • Review, negotiate, and manage contracts, change orders, and project-related agreements.
  • Coordinate project activities with field supervision, engineering, procurement, safety, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to PMs, coordinators, and field personnel.
  • Review and approve project estimates, progress reports, invoices, and forecasts.
  • Ensure timely submission of documentation (RFIs, permits, submittals, progress claims, closeout).
  • Participate in estimating, tendering, and proposal development activities.
  • Assist in identifying and securing new business opportunities with clients.
  • Facilitate effective communication among clients, teams, subcontractors and internal departments.
  • Support workforce planning and resource management.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practices in project operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and client presentations.
  • Support commissioning, startup, turnover and closeout activities.
  • Champion a culture of safety and quality on all sites.

Job description

Joining our construction services team offers a unique opportunity to play a leadership role in delivering complex industrial, utility, and electrical infrastructure projects for both new and existing clients. In this position, you'll be responsible for overseeing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

As a Project Manager, you will provide strategic leadership to project teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders. Some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Review and approve project estimates, progress reports, customer invoices, vendor invoices, and project forecasts.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of project documentation, including RFIs, permits, submittals, progress claims, and closeout packages.
  • Participate in estimating, tendering, and proposal development activities.
  • Assist in identifying and securing new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination between clients, project teams, subcontractors, and internal departments.
  • Support workforce planning and resource management to ensure successful project execution.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives and best practices throughout project operations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in compliance with company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and client presentations.
  • Support project commissioning, startup, turnover, and final project closeout activities.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed in accordance with company and client safety requirements.
Position Requirements
  • Relevant project management training or certification (PMP designation or equivalent is considered a strong asset).
  • Journeyperson Electrician Certificate, Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma, Engineering Degree, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial electrical construction, utilities, substations, power generation, or related industries.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible project management experience leading medium to large-scale projects.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, risk management, and project controls.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and client relationships.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, substations, power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts, electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling platforms.
  • Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to drive project profitability and client satisfaction.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop project team members while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable Driver's Abstract required.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
