Job summary

Evolutionary Recruiting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a Cyber Security Service Transition initiative for a public-sector client in Edmonton, AB. This contract role focuses on implementing and deploying a new cyber security solution, ensuring a smooth transition from design to operational readiness.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in cyber security frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls), ITIL Service Transition, and governance.

Qualifications

  • Proven project management experience completing Cyber Security Service Transition projects.
  • Public sector/government experience with ISO 27001, NIST, CIS standards.
  • Hands-on involvement in cyber security implementation and deployment projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication; ability to prepare executive reports.
  • Familiarity with ITIL Service Transition processes (Change Management, Release & Deployment, Service Validation).
  • Understanding of Canadian privacy legislation and regulatory requirements (FOIP, PIPEDA).
  • Knowledge of cyber security frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls), cloud security, hybrid environments, incident response and operational security.

  • Manage end-to-end Cyber Security Service Transition for enterprise solutions.
  • Develop and execute transition plans including service design and handover.
  • Conduct risk and impact analysis during transition phases.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector security standards and privacy legislation.
  • Navigate government procurement and governance processes.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and maintain stakeholder engagement.
  • Control project budget, timelines, and risks using Agile or hybrid methods.

Job Title: Project Manager Cyber Security Service Transition
Location: Edmonton, AB
Type: 6 months 1 year Contract, Full-Time

The Position:

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a Cyber Security Service Transition initiative. This role will focus on the implementation and deployment of a new cyber security solution, ensuring a smooth transition from design to operational readiness. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in government or public sector projects and deep expertise in cyber security frameworks and service transition processes.

What Youll Do:
  • Manage end-to-end Cyber Security Service Transition for enterprise solutions (e.g., SIEM, SOC, IAM, endpoint protection).
  • Develop and execute transition plans, including service design, readiness assessments, and operational handover.
  • Conduct risk and impact analysis during transition phases.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for solution configuration, integration, testing, and post-deployment optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector security standards and privacy legislation (FOIP, PIPEDA).
  • Navigate government procurement and governance processes.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and maintain strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Control project budget, timelines, and risks using structured methodologies (Agile or hybrid).
Mandatories:
  • Proven project management experience completing Cyber Security Service Transition projects.
  • Prior experience in government or public sector environments, including compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, CIS standards.
  • Hands-on involvement in cyber security implementation and deployment projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders and vendors as well as prepare executive level reports.
  • Familiarity with ITIL Service Transition processes (Change Management, Release & Deployment, Service Validation).
  • Understanding of Canadian privacy legislation and regulatory requirements (FOIP, PIPEDA).
  • Your Technical & Domain Knowledge includes cyber security frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls), cloud security and hybrid environments, incident response and operational security processes and the ability to translate technical requirements into business outcomes.
  • Your Desirable Certifications include Project Management certification such asPMP, PRINCE2, Agile, and Cyber Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, ITIL (Service Transition module).
