Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex, large-scale software projects for some of our enterprise oil & gas clients. This individual will serve as a key point of contact between our customers and internal teams, including Development, QA/QC, and Leadership, to ensure successful delivery of high-impact initiatives. As we bring on new enterprise clients, we require someone with strong communication, organization, and cross-functional leadership skills. You will coordinate timelines, manage expectations, drive stakeholder alignment, and ensure project milestones are met. Experience working within or supporting the energy sector is highly valuable.

Location

This is an onsite position located at our head office in NW Calgary.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the primary project lead for large enterprise clients throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders, including field operations, IT, and leadership teams, to define scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with internal teams including Software Development, QA/QC, GIS/Data, Support, and Leadership to coordinate resources and ensure alignment on requirements and priorities.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and communication pathways.
  • Facilitate status meetings, risk reviews, planning and stakeholder updates.
  • Anticipate issues or roadblocks and proactively drive solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Manage scope changes, budget considerations, and client expectations with transparency and professionalism.
  • Document decisions, dependencies, and assumptions to maintain clarity across teams.
  • Support onboarding of new enterprise clients and ensure a smooth transition into active delivery.
  • Ensure projects adhere to AbaData quality standards and meet client contractual requirements.
  • Represent the client’s needs internally while protecting team bandwidth and project constraints.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree or Diploma business administration, information technology, computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management, project coordination or related experience.
  • 3+ years as a project management experience in software or technology environments.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise projects.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and client-relationship skills.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with an emphasis on follow-through.
  • Experience in the oil & gas industry, particularly field operations
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Monday.com, etc.).
