Reporting

This position will report directly to the Vice President, Multi‑Family.

This position will work within Hopewell’s integrated structure to facilitate the construction of multiple multi​family projects within Calgary and Edmonton in collaboration and coordination with sales, estimating, design, land and accounting departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage construction activities on‑site and scheduling;
  • Lead, manage and mentor site staff across all multi‑family projects;
  • Municipal and Civil planning / design / engineering coordination;
  • Forecast, plan and prepare construction schedules, milestones and monitor progress;
  • Strategically plan and implement staffing levels and materials, ensure proper equipment and trades are available as required;
  • Coordination, planning, scheduling of utilities;
  • All required permitting, building, environmental and jurisdictional;
  • Assist in design and planning of buildings;
  • Overseeing the management of and execution of the Quality Control program;
  • Collaborate with all members of the various departments within the broader organization;
  • Coordinate all consultants;
  • Assist in tendering, contract awards, and contract management with Estimating team;
  • Budgeting, managing of budgets / cost controls in coordination with Estimating team;
  • Estimating site operations;
  • Direction of purchase order release to align with overall project schedules;
  • Safety management, participation;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5‑7 years’ experience in Multi‑Family Residential Construction;
  • Background in Construction / Civil Engineering / Architecture with an understanding of the multi‑family residential development industry and terminology.
  • A degree or diploma in a technical field such as civil or architectural engineering or related education / experience would be considered an asset;
  • Advanced level of scheduling system knowledge;
  • Experience in estimating, planning approval processes and working within the regulatory process would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to read / produce site and building plans and specifications;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project etc.) applications;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent internal and external client relation skills;
  • Self‑directed, detail‑oriented, optimistic, professional;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and team focused;
  • Ability to take initiative, organize and meet time sensitive deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently with strong prioritization skills;
  • Valid vehicle operators permit.
Working Conditions

Traditional core office hours are Monday to Friday 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm. This position may require occasional weekend and / or evening work. Travel within Calgary and surrounding area is required. Steel‑toed safety boots and hard hat is required. Physical requirements related to this position included, but are not limited to, the ability to lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pull heavy amounts of weight, operate assigned equipment / vehicles.
