Job summary

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic Project Leader to direct planning, coordination and execution of multidisciplinary projects within a complex industrial setting in Timmins, Ontario.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects, you will manage projects through full lifecycles, ensuring safety, schedule and budget adherence while meeting governance standards and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

  • Four-year university degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive project management experience.
  • PMP or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in planning, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk management plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through all lifecycle phases: initiation, execution, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Prepare business cases, charters, WBS, PM plans, and approvals.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, construction, procurement, environmental and stakeholders.
  • Manage procurement, tendering, and contract administration activities.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project Leader.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects, this position is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of multidisciplinary projects within a complex industrial environment. Working with cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will manage projects throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established project management and contract management practices.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead and manage assigned projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, including identification, initiation, definition, execution, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, forecasts, risk registers, and change management processes.
  • Prepare project documentation, including business cases, project charters, WBS, project management plans, execution plans, and approval packages.
  • Coordinate project requirements with engineering, operations, construction, procurement, environmental, and stakeholder groups.
  • Manage procurement and contracting activities, including specifications, bid packages, tender evaluations, contract awards, and administration, Monitor project performance, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and milestones.
  • Lead project meetings and facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, Obtain and coordinate permits, licenses, approvals, and regulatory clearances.
  • Ensure compliance with project governance, contract management, quality, environmental, and safety requirements, Provide leadership and direction to project team members.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships and manage project communications.
Qualifications
  • Four-Year University degree , Project Management, Business, Asset Management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive project management experience managing projects of increasing complexity.
  • PMP or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning and execution, including development and management of project scopes, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, forecasts, and risk management plans.
  • Proven ability to manage competing project priorities and deliver successful outcomes while balancing scope, schedule, cost, quality, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Experience managing procurement and contract administration activities, including RFP development, tender evaluations, contract awards, and vendor performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of project financial management, including cost control, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and commercial contracting practices.
  • Experience within hydroelectric generation, power generation, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other heavy industrial environments, with knowledge of construction methodologies, quality assurance practices, applicable codes and standards, and health and safety requirements, complemented by strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Important Information

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
