Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineering Manager - MMM. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Ontario.
What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Substantial mining or related industry experience at an intermediate/senior-level.
- Strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering delivery.
- Experience in Mining essentials, preferably underground mining.
- Detailed knowledge of the application of relevant Management and Knowledge System Engineering processes.
- Supervision and leadership skills (management/leadership experience, ability to direct and influence a team, exceptional communication, delegation, good judgment, mentoring, and ability to deliver performance feedback).
- Planning / Analysis / Coordination skills and experience (analyze existing systems/procedures, lead improvement strategies, prioritize work, coordinate changes, implement procedures, monitor planned work).
- Well-rounded understanding of all engineering disciplines; familiarity with Worley systems and processes; execution-focused with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft SharePoint/Teams.
- Working knowledge of 3D modeling tools such as Navisworks.
- Ensures the technical team has appropriate competency/skills and coordinates training to address deficiencies.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- Recognized Engineering degree (or equivalent).
- Senior-level experience managing project design engineering on mining, minerals, and metals projects.
- Current P.Eng. registration with PEO, or registered P.Eng. in another Canadian Province or Territory and eligible for registration with PEO.
Responsibilities
- The PEM will work on Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, FEED and Detailed engineering studies and projects with substantial multidiscipline engineering scope.
- The PEM will provide leadership and support MMM project delivery teams to drive engineering objectives.
Engineering Execution
- Plans and coordinates multi-discipline engineering design assignments within and across disciplines, including multidisciplinary issues that impact project progress.
- Plans and manages engineering and design systems implementation, technical specifications, standard drawings, model setups, and data management systems.
- Ensures engineering activities comply with codes, Worley’s Management and Knowledge System, and client requirements as defined in the Basis of Design (BoD) and Project Execution Plan (PEP).
- Ensures BoD and technical scope are adequately documented and changes are managed.
- Prepares Engineering (SEAL) Plan and change management plan, including Safe and Sustainable Engineering.
- Ensures SEAL Plan requirements are adhered to by the Technical Team.
- Applies SEAL requirements including client coordination, planning, and verification of compliance.
- Promotes use of new digital tools/technologies to improve project execution.
- Ensures engineering systems are compliant with global directives and project needs.
- Maintains technical integrity and safety alongside schedule.
- Ensures design meets quality, cost, safety, and performance standards and can be safely constructed, operated, maintained, decommissioned, and demolished.
- Identifies and addresses holds and uncertainties; promotes data-centric project delivery where possible; fosters collaboration with stakeholders.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensures projects are set up and executed in compliance with Worley HSE Management system.
- Demonstrates visible commitment to Life (safety and environment).
Change Management
- Identifies scope changes and adheres to change management processes.
Peer Reviews
- Plans and conducts Technical Peer Reviews per Technical Stewardship Standard with the Director of Engineering; ensures reviews are conducted in accordance with Worley standards; identifies additional reviews as needed.
Quality
- Leads quality objectives through Lead Discipline Engineers; ensures adherence to Management and Knowledge System; ensures design checks are performed by competent personnel; closes Quality Audit findings and action requests related to Engineering.
Planning/Resourcing
- Coordinates technical input to schedule development and approves technical components.
- Reviews discipline time estimates and consolidates into overall engineering estimate or change request.
- Supports GID/workshare planning and implements with discipline leads.
- Assists project management in monitoring engineering performance against budget and schedule.
- Coordinates with Discipline Managers to secure resources.
Document and Data Management
- Defines internal project data management requirements; ensures data is managed per internal and client requirements; uses Worley-approved document management systems and processes.
Workshare/GID
- Defines Workshare/GID technical scope; oversees technical quality of shared work; manages interface with Workshare/GID offices.
Confidentiality and Intellectual Property
- Maintains integrity and confidentiality of all intellectual property; complies with agreed terms and ownership.
HSE Capability
- Shows awareness and commitment to health, safety and environment; takes actions toward zero harm and zero environmental incidents.
