Agropur is looking for a Project Engineer for the Lethbridge plant.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer is responsible for the development, execution and monitoring of major investment projects. He develops and optimizes manufacturing processes in order to improve operational performance or add value to the organisation. The scope of projects can reach several million dollars. The Project Engineer will be based at the Lethbridge plant in Alberta.

What’s involved in this role

More specifically, the Project Engineer’s responsibilities will include:

  • Develops, analyzes and evaluates various investment requests.
  • Takes charge of aspects such as health and safety, quality, technical aspects, operational challenges, human resources and financial impact.
  • Performs technical and financial monitoring of the projects entrusted.
  • Prepares technical specifications, plans and cost estimates.
  • Manages tenders and issuance of contracts, together with the strategic purchasing department.
  • Coordinates the installation and commissioning of equipment and manages the project budget.
  • Coordinates the work of multidisciplinary teams associated with the realization of major projects.
  • Acts as a technical advisor to other members of the engineering team or plants.
  • Responsible for capital projects at the Lethbridge plant in Alberta but may be called upon to support other locations depending on workloads and business needs.
What you need to join our team
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, industrial or automation.
  • Member of an Engineering Association recognized in Canada.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in engineering and carrying out projects.
  • Expertise in the design and installation of processes in the food and beverage sector is sought.
  • Experience in automation would be considered as an asset.
  • Proven track record of implementing multidisciplinary capital projects in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Negotiating and communication skills and a keen sense of analysis.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
