Job description

Leading global infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Project Director to support future growth of their major transportation projects team in either of the following offices: Vancouver BC, Victoria BC, Kelowna BC, Calgary AB or Edmonton AB, with the flexibility of a hybrid work environment. Salary range: $160,000 – $200,000.

The client is seeking a full-time permanent Project Director to lead key transportation infrastructure initiatives and collaborate with clients across disciplines.

Project Director role within the team:
  • Business Strategy Development: Build, maintain and revise practices, team development, collaboration across disciplines, engaging in business/relationship development and client liaison activities, in particular with BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit, assist the Manager in achieving the objectives of the Transportation Infrastructure Department.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage multidisciplinary civil projects as Senior Design Manager, Technical Lead and/or Engineer of Record, deal directly with clients on project scope, schedule and budget, monitor project completion and contract compliance.
  • Technical Execution: Participate in and/or lead execution as Lead Discipline of transportation infrastructure projects including Functional Planning, Preliminary Design, Detail Design and Construction Administration services, coordinate technical aspects with other disciplines, prepare and present work products to clients.
  • Proposal Preparation: Lead/Participate and oversee the preparation of proposals and fee estimates.
  • Mentoring and Quality Control: Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians to ensure technical adequacy of all work, review work and complete quality control procedures.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Extensive Experience:20+ years of relative experience in roads and highways design and 10+ years of experience as a design lead, deputy project manager or project manager.
  • Professional Credentials:Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC. CAPM/PMP designation is an asset.
  • Technical Proficiency:Skilled in office productivity, project accounting, project management and personnel management software, working knowledge of CAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Design Standards Knowledge:Working knowledge of application of TAC Geometric Design Guidelines, BC MoTT Supplement to TAC, and other design standards is required.
  • Soft Skills and Flexibility: Strong communication, presentation, and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, team management and delegation skills, willingness to travel for short-term assignments within Canada.
