What is the Opportunity?

Aecon is seeking a Project Director Systems to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support dynamic, transit projects in Canada. What You Will Do Here:
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive project plans for major rail infrastructure initiatives and serve as the single point of contact with the Client and representatives from each project segment in a collaborative process.
  • Ensure the project meets contractual requirements and resolve issues including managing schedules and budgets to achieve contract obligations.
  • Collaborate with the client, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and manage project interfaces, both design and construction interfaces.
  • Manage design and construction risks.
  • Execute Systems Engineering processes to deliver successful project outcomes, including requirements management, interface management, validation and verification and configuration management.
  • Execute Systems Assurance to demonstrate the systems can be operated and maintained safely and as an integrated system.
  • Lead teams responsible for design, procurement, installation, integration, configuration, testing, and commissioning of rail transit systems.
  • Lead the integration and interface of the Systems with civil structures, elevated guideway, tunnels, stations, O M facilities, as well as with the existing rail rapid transit systems in revenue operation.
  • Ensure project / segment teams comply with the system lifecycle processes defined in ISO / IEC / IEEE 15288.

What You Bring to The Team:
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in the rail transit sector in a leadership role managing project systems components.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Preference will be given to licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Experience with AREMA, ISO, CENELEC, MIL-STD, and IEEE standards.
  • Knowledge of Progressive Design and Build models and other typical contractual structures for the delivery of rail and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory requirements governing passenger rail transit projects.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices sufficient to lead cross functional teams and consultants, including budget and schedule control and planning work programs.
  • Direct working knowledge of trackwork systems, as well as other rail systems such as signaling and automatic train controls, communications systems, and propulsion power supply systems.
  • An extensive technical knowledge of systems design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning and application of Systems Engineering processes.
  • Sound judgement, highly developed interpersonal skills, well developed organizational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and Outlook packages).
