A healthcare infrastructure organization in Halifax is seeking a Project Director to oversee the delivery of healthcare infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction operations and project management, with a focus on strategic planning and stakeholder management. This position requires strong leadership capabilities to manage diverse teams effectively, ensuring alignment and delivery of project objectives. A salary range of $2,116 - $2,646 weekly is offered for this temporary role.
The Opportunity: Under the general direction of the Senior Director Project Delivery the Project Director Healthcare Infrastructure is accountable for concept development, technical oversight, coordination across disciplines, project integration and compliance management for the design components of healthcare infrastructure projects primarily focused in Central Zone, Nova Scotia, though can provide support across the province.
The Project Director Healthcare Infrastructure works with the Clinical Planning, Clinical Equipment, ICAT / IMIT and Shared Technical Services Director to ensure successful delivery of all Province activities related to Design throughout the project lifecycle to ensure achievement of the project schedule and final completion of new and renovated spaces.
Qualifications
As the ideal candidate you have a post‑secondary degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or another relevant discipline, along with ten (10) plus years of progressive experience in a leadership role in construction operations or project management. Preference is given to those who are actively registered as a Full Member with Engineers Nova Scotia (ENS).
Results‑oriented leadership with a proven ability to create alignment across various business units, effectively manage diverse teams of project consultants, specialists and contractors, and develop high‑performance project teams across multiple locations.
Proven track record in strategic planning, operations and budget management, project scheduling, and the development and implementation of best practices in project management.
Strong knowledge of relevant legal matters, legislation, regulations, standards and codes, with the capability to manage evolving demands and priorities inherent within large complex construction projects.
Proficiency in developing metrics and reporting structures to effectively measure and report on project performance, ensuring communications with a wide array of stakeholders are consistent and seamless.
Exceptional at managing, prioritizing and planning, drawing upon natural people‑leadership skills to work cohesively and effectively with large and diverse teams, and proposing innovative and industry‑leading solutions and recommendations for accomplishing project objectives.

Build Nova Scotia Healthcare Infrastructure Division is committed to delivering an extensive multi‑site, multi‑year infrastructure redevelopment plan designed to ensure the health care needs of Nova Scotians are met for the next 50 years.
The redevelopment plan includes major expansions and additions to hospitals and health services in communities across the province, including throughout the Halifax and Cape Breton Regional Municipalities. Successful project delivery will allow services to be moved out of the aging facilities such as the Centennial, Victoria and Dickson buildings on the Victoria General (VG) site of the QEII.
Master planning for the redevelopment program is focused on modernizing the health care system to ensure the needs of Nova Scotians remain at the heart of our delivery of best‑in‑class services. Together the redevelopment projects will help support the health care of all Nova Scotians today and for future generations.
