NES Fircroft is seeking a Project Director to lead a multi-year energy infrastructure program in Alberta, overseeing planning, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover of a $1B+ capital project dedicated to power generation for digital infrastructure needs.

The role requires executive leadership, a strong owner’s perspective, and proven experience directing EPC/EPCM teams, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Manage project budgets, schedules, risk mitigation strategies, and overall project governance.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams including EPC contractors, consultants, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage commercial negotiations, contract administration, and claims resolution.
  • Deliver project objectives while maintaining schedule certainty and cost discipline.

Opportunity An exceptional opportunity exists for an accomplished Project Director to lead the delivery of one of Western Canada's most significant energy infrastructure developments. This role will oversee the execution of a multi-year capital program valued in excess of $1 billion, involving the construction of new simple cycle power generation facilities that will provide dedicated power supply to major digital infrastructure developments.

This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for guiding project strategy, execution, stakeholder management, commercial performance, and overall delivery from an owner's perspective. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping a landmark project expected to contribute significantly to regional economic growth, investment, and infrastructure development. Key Responsibilities:

Ideal Background We are seeking a proven project executive with experience delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects of significant capital value, preferably exceeding several hundred million dollars and ideally within the billion-dollar range.

Strong consideration will be given to candidates with experience in:
  • Simple Cycle Power Generation Facilities
  • Combined Cycle Power Plants
  • Traditional Thermal Power Generation Projects
  • Major Pipeline Infrastructure Projects
  • Large Industrial or Energy Megaprojects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success leading major energy projects from an Owner's Representative or Owner's Team perspective.
  • Extensive experience managing large EPC and EPCM contractors.
  • Strong understanding of power generation project execution and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with pipeline integration and related infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to lead large project teams in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Exceptional commercial, contractual, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, high-profile project environment.
