Job summary

Fluor Canada seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead medium to large EPFC/CM projects in Calgary. You will oversee execution planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and vendor coordination to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery while upholding quality and client expectations.

You will mentor high-performing teams, manage contract requirements, and coordinate with design, construction, commissioning, and Owner ICT interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Accredited four-year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and extensive relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including management, clients, and vendors.
  • Strong technical knowledge to complete the job and ability to learn local statutes and guidelines.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform essential project management duties and functions with the overall objective of establishing an execution framework that complies with contractual requirements and ensures the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability of the completed project.

This position is responsible for leading medium to large-sized, moderate to high-risk Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction/Construction Management (EPFC/CM) projects. The role may also be assigned responsibility for a major scope within a mega project. When acting as a Proposal Manager, the position is responsible for managing the development and completion of technical and commercial proposals, including project planning, execution strategies, means and methods, schedule development, cost estimating, and Project Execution and Commercial Execution Strategies.

  • Promote and maintain a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture throughout all phases of the project.
  • Ensure project execution is carried out in accordance with contractual obligations, Fluor's Operating System Requirements (OSR), and the applicable Operating System Implementation Plan (OSIP).
  • Ensure compliance with Fluor's contract requirements, including client reporting, notifications, project start-up, and close-out activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and communicate project baselines in accordance with OSR requirements.
  • Deliver projects in alignment with approved execution and commercial baselines.
  • Lead and manage medium to large-scale data centre projects (60MW+) and mission-critical facilities through preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Manage multiple moderate-risk project scopes, including Lump Sum and/or GMP delivery models.
  • Lead technical and commercial proposal development, including execution planning, means and methods, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Manage project change control, including cost and schedule impacts.
  • Build, develop, and maintain high-performing teams, both internally and externally.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring while remaining current with evolving technologies and data service delivery practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements.
  • Provide technical support, advice, and guidance throughout Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning phases.
  • Liaise with Owner ICT teams and vendors to ensure Owner specifications are understood and followed.
  • Manage program budgets and schedules while delivering accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Engage early during preconstruction to identify value engineering opportunities for off-site deliverables.
  • Collaborate with design teams to proactively address MEP coordination and clash detection activities.

Basic Job Requirements
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twelve (12) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to sixteen (16) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience delivering medium to large-scale data center projects and mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong background in preconstruction, procurement, and construction, with specific experience in fiber optics, security systems, BMS, telecommunications, and ICT infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership, client relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of data centre ICT disciplines, including infrastructure management, security, energy efficiency, data management, network management, and industry standards supporting resilient and secure data centre operations.
  • Ability to set and maintain high standards of self performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks.
  • Demonstration of innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgment
  • Ability to influence a group of diverse individuals, each with their own goals, needs, and perspectives, to work together effectively for the good of a project
  • Mobility - for example, travel to site locations
