Job summary

Worley is seeking a Project Director to oversee a critical mining project based at our Markham or Oakville offices in Ontario, with regular site travel. The role leads a large cross-functional delivery team and ensures contractual obligations are met with disciplined project controls.

The ideal candidate brings senior supervisory and PM experience in Mining & Metals, professional registration, and a track record of managing complex EPCM/EPC projects in multicultural environments.

Qualifications

• Senior-level supervisory/project management experience in Mining, Minerals & Metals.
• Experience leading workshare EPCM/EPC projects incl. site assignments.
• Professional registration in local jurisdiction; PM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead large cross-functional project delivery team.
• Oversee, motivate and monitor performance for timely, quality deliverables.
• Create collaborative environment with clear expectations and accountability.
• Provide leadership to third-party team members.
• Apply Worley project delivery methodology on large complex projects.
• Oversee full project scope from planning through construction.

• Prepare integrated project execution plans for mega/complex projects.
• Coordinate execution with regular reviews/controls.
• Understand Project Control Reports and implement recovery actions.
• Interpret project schedule to identify adverse trends and take action.
• Plan forward to resource the project appropriately.
• Coordinate reviews and follow-ups across the project.
• Apply Advanced Work Packaging practices.
• Workshare execution experience.

Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Project Director to oversee and lead a critical mining project in St John's, Newfoundland. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based at Worley's Markham or Oakville offices in Ontario, with regular travel to site.

The Project Director will provide direction and project management to ensure project completion in accordance with contractual obligations. They will define project goals and devise methods to accomplish them and will develop in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies.

• Leads the large cross-functional project delivery team.
• Oversees, motivates and monitors the performance of the team, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps.
• Create strong collaborative team environment by establishing common vision, setting clear expectations and accountability.
• Provides leadership to third‐party team members.
• Experienced in the use of Worley project delivery methodology and associated tools for large complex projects.
• Demonstrated capability of overseeing large‐scale projects with responsibility for the full performance of the project (planning, directing, supervising and controlling all technical, fiscal and administrative functions).
• Procurement of equipment/materials on Worley paper, subcontracting and materials plan, multiple contracts on Worley paper.
• Has experience with managing complex scope changes.
• Manages projects and monitors progress in an ordered, accurate way, provides accurate and timely information.
• Has completed a full project from start to finish and spent time in the field implementing what was engineered.
• Has coordinated the preparation of an integrated set of project execution plans for large/mega projects or complex projects (i.e., engineering, HSE, Quality, procurement, project controls, estimating, construction, etc.)
• Manages execution, coordination, and implements regular reviews/controls to track project progress.
• Comprehensive understanding of Project Control Reports, identifies problem areas and implements recovery plans.
• Interprets and understands all of the key elements of the project schedule to identify adverse trends and take correction action.
• Applies forward planning with schedule to resource the project appropriately.
• Has successfully managed the application of appropriate coordination, reviews and follow ups across the project.
• Application of Advanced Work Packaging for planning and delivery.
• Experienced in successful workshare execution.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

• Senior-level, relevant supervisory, project management and/or technical experience within the Mining, Minerals & Metals industry.
• Experience leading workshare EPCM, EPC including site assignments Multi-Cultural / Multi-National environments.
• Professional registration in local jurisdiction. Certified Program Management Professional by a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
• Knowledge of cold weather projects, and of the Newfoundland area would be highly advantageous.

Required:

• University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience

For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $208,509 - $258,509 CAD.
