Job summary

Peak Power Inc is seeking an experienced Project Manager in Toronto to drive execution of day-to-day operations for our electric asset portfolio. You will lead initiation, define calendars, and manage deliverables, with a focus on interconnection, permitting, and due diligence for energy storage projects.

You will coordinate with internal teams and external EPCs, utilities, and stakeholders to ensure milestones and client criteria are met, reporting progress and maintaining transparent processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in a construction project management or related role.
• 3+ years of experience in developing and constructing behind and in front of the meter energy storage projects; wind & solar is a plus.
• Familiarity with battery storage design and technical standards; strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• PMP certification preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
• Excellent organizational skills with clear project plans and executive-level reporting.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
• Knowledge of NFPA 855 & UL 9540
• Proficiency in MS Project

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional team to bring a portfolio of projects to NTP.
• Own and lead energy storage project development with managing and de-risking key deliverables (interconnection, permitting, environmental assessments, site survey, procurement, cost estimates, interconnection process for NTP).
• Manage a project pipeline of energy storage projects and deliver complex milestones across stakeholders.
• Define and document RFPs and scope of work for 3rd party EPC firms; participate in EPC selection and contract negotiation.
• Conduct due diligence on potential projects and evaluate site reports (environmental, geo-tech, etc.).
• Define acceptance criteria for each deliverable and secure sign-off per SOW.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the COO, the Project Manager will be pivotal in driving the execution and delivery of day-to-day operations of Peak’s electric asset portfolio. You will lead the project initiation in the delivery system, defining the project calendar and work breakdown structure, and defining deliverable acceptance and reporting procedures. You willleverageyour understanding of Independent Electricity Systems Operator (ISO) electricity markets, energy storage, and power systems toestablishthe processes to support the delivery of operational excellence develop and position Peak’s electric asset portfolio.

You have excellent time management, prioritization, and project management skills to ensure operational performance targets and project milestones are met or exceeded.

• Lead a cross-functional teamin order tobring a portfolio of projects to NTP

• Own and lead energy storage project development(s) with responsibility for managing and de-risking key development deliverables; including interconnection, permitting, environmental assessments, site survey, procurement, and specific discrete deliverables such as cost estimates and interconnection process needed to reach NTP

• Manage a project pipeline of energy storage projects and execute on complex milestone deliverables across a network of stakeholders

• Define and document RFPs and scope of work packages for 3rd party EPC firms. Participate in EPC selection and contract negotiation

• Conduct due diligence on potential projects, evaluate the suitability ofidentifiedsitesandparticipatein due diligence review and analysis of various reports (i.e.environmental, geo-tech, etc.)

• Define in advance the acceptance criteria for each project deliverable, works with the team to establish delivery dates for each deliverable, and oversee the review of client deliverables to ensure they meet all client acceptance criteria, securing sign-off on each deliverable as defined in the SOW

Report.

You willmonitorand report on progress, methodically evaluate processes and systems to improve efficiency; and implement processes that provide transparency and tracking

• Lead project status update meetings with management, utilities, EPCs, and finance counterparties,facilitatingdiscussions with a detailed project plan and high-level status dashboard

• Manage the collection, organization and filing of all project documentation, both internally and for external third-party stakeholders and project financing needs

• Review and manage EPC Contractor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, andpermitcompliance

Collaborate.

You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective operations that require input, buy-in, and execution across multiple departments, as well as customer and stakeholder communications.

• Maintain and develop relations with Battery OEM and balance of plant vendors

• Manage engagements with project stakeholders and act as a company representative for interactions with landowners, local governmental agencies, customers, contractors, equipment and materials suppliers, and other stakeholders

• Coordinate activities of an internal team of project engineering, construction management, commissioning, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, and accounting staff, as well as deliverables of EPC Contractor, project stakeholders, and regulatory andpermittingauthorities

• Problem solving for nuanced site, permit, and technology issues with internal experts and external stakeholders

• Understand the key financing elements of a project and work with the finance and commercial teams to ensure that all projects and deals continue to meet or exceed financial hurdles

• Familiarity with battery storage design and technical standards as well as civil and structural technical knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skill

• Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred

• Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal

• Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive-level reporting that ensure timely action and decision-making in time-pressured scenarios.

• Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code

• Knowledge of NFPA 855 & UL 9540

The base salary range for this role is$90,000 - 130,000, which reflects differences in experience, skills, and qualifications that candidates may bring to the position.
