Job summary

Aplin Martin is seeking a Project Coordinator for our Calgary team to deliver land development and municipal infrastructure projects from design through construction.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Clients, Municipalities, and Contractors to coordinate activities, support design approvals, monitor schedules and budgets, and contribute to construction administration and site inspections.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in land development and municipal engineering.
  • Registered as a C.E.T. or E.I.T. within Alberta.
  • PMP would be considered an asset or completion of a formal PM course.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with multiple team members.
  • Knowledgeable in civil engineering design principles.
  • Knowledge of tender preparation and some construction administration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the project team through municipal design approval processes.
  • Coordinate day-to-day with consultants, utility agencies, contractors and Municipal staff.
  • Work with Design Lead/Engineer-of-Record to ensure designs meet stakeholders’ needs and stay on schedule.
  • Assist Project Manager with client interactions and day-to-day project matters.
  • Attend meetings with Clients, Contractors and Municipal staff and record outcomes for project records.
  • Meet project milestones and support forecast/budget tracking.
  • Assist with tender preparation and contract administration from tender through award.
  • Perform field observations to ensure compliance with standards and contractual obligations.

Position Overview

Ready to take the next step in your civil engineering career? Join our growing Calgary team as aProject Coordinator, where you’ll play a key role in delivering land development and municipal infrastructure projects from design through construction.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Clients, Municipalities, and Contractors, you’ll coordinate project activities, support design approvals, monitor schedules and budgets, and contribute to construction administration and site inspections. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Effectively support the project teamthrough the municipal design approval process.
  • Exercise judgment on the appropriateness of engineering requirements identified by municipal jurisdictions.
  • Work with the Design Lead and/or Engineer-of-Record to ensure the detailed design process effectively meets the needs of all stakeholders and stays on schedule.
  • Take the lead role in day-to-day coordination with other consultants, third-party utility agencies, contractors, and Municipal staff,communicatingoutcomes clearly to theproject team.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager on Client interactions and engage directly with the Client’s representative on day-to-day project matters.
  • Attend meetings with Clients, Contractors and Municipal staff and make notes and records of the outcomes of these meetings for project record purposes.
  • Meet project milestones in accordance with Client and Municipal deadlines.
  • Assist the Project Manager with 3-month forecasting of work projections, invoice preparation, and budget tracking.
  • Track project progress and work with Project Manager to obtain authorizations/approvals for changes in schedule/scope.
  • Contract administration, assisting with the preparation of tender documents and support through the tender process through award.
  • Perform field observations to ensure compliance with the standards and specifications as well as other contractual obligations.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports as required.
  • Perform ESC inspections and reports as required.
  • Review and understand the construction contracts and conduct contract administration by referring to and enforcing the contractual terms throughout construction and post construction.
  • Complete CCC/FAC applications.
  • Any other duties, as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum4 years' experience within the land development and municipal engineering industry.
  • Registered asa C.E.T. or E.I.T. within the Province of Alberta.
  • PMP would be considered an asset or completion of aformal course in Project Management as part of a Certificate or Diploma Program in Project Management.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on several different projects and with multiple team members.
  • Knowledgeable in civil engineering design principles.
  • Knowledge of tender preparation, with some construction administration experience preferred.
