Job description
Overview

We are building a roster of Project Controls Specialists to support upcoming industrial construction and maintenance projects across Western Canada. These are temporary project-based positions requiring on-site presence with rotational or fly-in / fly-out schedules depending on project location.

As a Project Controls Specialist you will take ownership of cost control, forecasting, scheduling and performance reporting. You will act as the bridge between field execution and project reporting ensuring that all cost and schedule data accurately reflect real-world progress. This is a hands-on role requiring both technical acumen and the drive to pursue clarity, detail and accountability across multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cost control, scheduling and forecasting activities for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain Primavera P6 / MS Project schedules aligned with execution and procurement plans.
  • Track costs, earned hours and progress to support informed data-driven decisions.
  • Prepare forecasting, performance and variance reports that drive project clarity and accountability.
  • Support change management reviews and provide cost and schedule impact assessments.
  • Collaborate with project management, field supervision and commercial teams to ensure alignment.

Qualifications
  • 710 years of experience in project controls, cost forecasting or scheduling on field-based industrial construction or maintenance projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cost control, scheduling, earned value and forecasting principles.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP tools such as IFS is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced site-based environment balancing technical precision with practical execution realities.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical discipline, or PMP / AACE CCP / PSP or trade certification (Red Seal) an asset.
  • Background in field supervision, coordination or execution roles.
